Temple Emanu-El Centennial Anniversary

2007 marked Temple Emanu-El's Centennial Anniversary, and a special Centennial Committee was formed to organize special events for Temple congregants to celebrate this historical milestone. Three events were scheduled: a special Oneg Shabbat program on October 12 where Ira Shankman spoke about the music of Cantor Israel Goldfarb; a Sunday Breakfast on October 21 presenting the history of Temple Emanu-el's first one hundred years; and a Gala Centennial Dinner on November 17 celebrating the anniversary and honoring several well-deserved individuals from the Temple, including Rabbi Gerald Sussman, Rebbetzin Bonita Nathan Sussman, Cantor Emeritus Jack Schwartz, Ruth Baker, Helen Goldfarb and Monroe Klein. .

For the Sunday Breakfast, our Temple's own Ruth Baker updated the comprehensive history of the Temple that she prepared for the Temple's 85th Anniversary in 1992. This updated history was recorded on a special DVD narrated by Ruth and produced by Victor Goldmintz and Sidney Reiter, and the DVD was shown at the Breakfast to rave reviews by attendees.

The DVD, in full color and sound, is available by special order (prepaid) for $18.00 per copy. Click here for a copy of the order form.
